Customer Spotlight: The Cougars
Welcome back to another Customer Spotlight! One of our favorite parts of this series is getting to know the incredible businesses within our community and hearing the stories behind the brands they’ve built! Today we’re excited to introduce you to The Cougars, a streetwear brand focused on creativity, quality, and cultural impact!
From thoughtfully designed apparel to bold creative inspiration, The Cougars is a brand that continues to evolve while staying true to its vision. We had the chance to learn more about how it all started, what drives the brand today, and where it’s headed next.
What got you started in your business?
The brand began from a desire to create what I felt was missing. The Cougars is rooted in honoring the next generation while maintaining a forward-thinking approach to creativity and culture.
What do you sell or offer?
We currently operate in the streetwear space, offering hats, T-shirts, pants, and jewelry, with furniture launching later this year. We are actively expanding into new markets and developing elevated product categories.
How long have you been at it?
Approximately 7–8 years. Over the past few years, we’ve placed a strong focus on refining our cut-and-sew program and overall craftsmanship.
What makes you proud of your business?
The impact. Seeing our work resonate with customers and positively influence the community is what drives the brand forward.
Which hats from us do you like best?
Blank Foam Trucker Hats.
How has your business changed over time?
Our evolution has been defined by an increased commitment to quality and creative independence. We prioritize making what feels authentic to us rather than simply following trends.
Has BuckWholesale helped along the way?
In 2022, I discovered BuckWholesale while searching for a low-profile trucker hat that matched the exact fit I envisioned. Producing domestically while maintaining a unique aesthetic was important to me.
Shortly after, I independently sold over 200 hats in one week, which was a major milestone for the brand. With the world reopening post-COVID, seeing people outside wearing something I created was a defining moment.
Another meaningful layer to the project is that my older brother, a canvas artist, originally sketched the logo for me years ago. I held onto the design until the timing felt right, and the Water Ice Trucker was that moment. BuckWholesale’s wide range of color variations immediately reminded me of Italian ice from Philadelphia, which became the core inspiration behind the hats.
What advice would you give someone just starting out?
Start first and refine along the way. Every idea arrives with purpose. I view ideas as downloads. It’s our job to execute on them.
We love hearing stories like this and seeing the creativity our customers bring to life with our hats. The Cougars is a great example of what can happen when passion, vision, and persistence come together.
We can’t wait to see what they create next!
Where can people find The Cougars?
